The Story

SHIPPING NOT AVAILABLE - PICK UP ONLY.

Quercus virginiana Mill. is a large, semi-evergreen tree that thrives in moist to dry, well-drained soils, including sandy, loamy, and clay types. Preferring medium water use, it flourishes in full sun to part shade and is highly tolerant of salt and compacted soils. Southern Live Oak is a classic shade tree, known for its broad, arching canopy and sturdy branches, often draped in Spanish moss. It produces small, dark brown acorns, providing food and shelter for birds and wildlife, and serves as a larval host for multiple butterfly species. Though drought-tolerant once established, it requires adequate water during early growth and is susceptible to oak wilt.

Spread: 60-100 feet
