The Story
Oakleaf Hydrangea 'Ruby Slippers', is a cultivar of the North American native Hydrangea quercifolia, a cross between the 'Snow Queen' and 'Pee Wee' varieties. As well as its "oak-shaped" leaves, it is known for its color changing flowers. They bloom white in the Summer and turn to a soft, ruby pink flower as they age. The leaves also turn to shades of mahogany and maroon in autumn.Â
