Southern Wood Fern

Thelypteris kunthii (Wood Fern) is a semi-evergreen perennial fern with gracefully arching fronds, ranging in color from lime to medium green, and turning bronze as winter approaches. It can grow up to 5 feet long, adding texture to shade gardens, wetlands, and water garden habitats. This fern thrives in moist, poorly drained soils, tolerating a range of conditions from swampy areas to stream banks. It’s an excellent low-maintenance groundcover for shade, providing year-round interest with its distinctive, finely cut foliage.
