The Story

Queen Victoria Agave (Agave victoriae-reginae) is rare and striking desert accent plant that forms a symmetrical rosette of dark green foliage adorned with unique white markings. Its toothless leaves end in a sharp spine, and it grows slowly to reach a compact size. After many years, it produces a dramatic 10- to 15-foot flower spike with green to creamy white blooms tinged with red or purple. As a monocarpic plant, it dies after flowering. Some varieties do not produce offsets, while others develop profuse ones. Ideal for containers, raised planters, rock gardens, and alongside boulders, this agave thrives in arid landscapes. Native to Coahuila, Durango, and Nuevo Leon, Mexico, it is recognized as an endangered species.
